currently live in New York City which has 8,491,079 people and counting. It’s ranked the largest city in America. Crazy right?

I have also lived in Los Angeles which is ranked #2 in largest cities in America with 3,792,621 people and counting.

Why are we so attracted to big cities? What’s appealing about them?

I mean, what’s so glamours about walking down 42nd St. in Manhattan and getting smacked in the face by a piece of trash? Absolutely nothing. And yes, this has happened to me many times. Being from Iowa, there are so many things wrong with this…

Like any normal person I ask myself:

Where does all the trash go?
How the hell do 8 million people live here?
Is the island going to sink?
Why have I seen more topless women than men?
Am I in a Walking Dead episode?
SO why do people come to big cities? The only thing I can come up with is, people like people.

People like weird people actually...

Big cities are full of creators, we like big cities because of the diversity and the different types of people we’ll see and/or meet. It’s an experience.

Living in a big city usually means you’re spending more money than you’re making. Unless you have help, this just doesn’t work all that often.

Big cities like New York are jam packed full of noise and a fast paced lifestyle. You have to adjust or you’ll get stepped on, literally.

Some of the wealthiest people in the world live in NYC.

There is something about this city that is so motivating, maybe it’s the fact that it holds some of the most memorable history and is swarming with creative people just waiting to get their big break. People have the power to change the world every single day no matter where they are living.

There is strength with every morning the sun rises.

You’re alive.

This is indeed where truth lies. Our greatest calling in life is only reached when you look inside of yourself for the answers...

In the beginning of the book “The Artist’s Way” Julia Cameron specifically states that every single person is creative. She has a spiritual class that allows people to be free with their creativity.

We create our own destiny.

“You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink.”

Someone like Julia can lead people to their most creative selves but she can’t tell them what to create. You have to look deep inside of yourselves to find what it is that makes you feel the fire within.

It doesn’t matter where you are in the world, create something.

Create something that’s important to you. Find your voice.

Don’t let your circumstances or where you are located stop you from creating the life you so desperately want to be living.
